Sooner 2009, Making yearbooks cool again.

Gold Crown Award Winner
The 100th edition of the Sooner (my last year with the yearbook) won the most prestigious collegiate media award, the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Gold Crown (one of three yearbooks to do so) at the College Media Convention last week.
34 Gold Circles
The Gold Circle, given by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, is the largest national competition for individual achievement in college, university and senior high school publications throughout the United States. The awards recognize the nation's best student journalists.

The Sooner 2009 had 34 gold circles total (Circles are for individual stories, photos, spreads and headlines from the 2009 book), which is a very high number for one publication!

I received three individual Gold Circles:
1st & 2nd Place: student life one spread: black and white, for "Skin Deep" and "Sooner Sweethearts"
3rd Place: Organization or Greeks spread multi-page presentation: color, for "Once Upon a Homecoming."

Pacemaker Finalist
Also, with the Associated Collegiate Press the Sooner 2009 is nominated as a Pacemaker finalist.

I was a staff photographer and designer for the 99th and 100th edition of the Sooner Yearbook, which is considered one of the top two yearbooks nationwide (not to toot my own horn or anything).
